I am a Venezuelan Belgian and I studied at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. I was a DAAD student there and got my PhD in 2000. Since then I have been working in the area of natural language processing and software development. I love combining statistical and ruled-based approaches to natural language processing. I enjoy exploring machine learning techniques in particular for dealing with semantic search and machine-human interaction. I develop algorithms that transform vast amounts of unstructured data into actionable information.
Outside my work, I read from fiction to neurology to history, I draw and love mountaineering. I not only enjoy getting involved in activities in the one AI, but also, when I have a little bit of time, in the other AI.
